TECC Editora was founded in 2009 as an editorial company and book publisher. Our primary mission is to  publish and distribute books about the natural history of tropical America and literature from Brazil.

About TECCs Founders

TECC Editora was founded by Nathan Smith and Amilcar Neves.

  • Nathan Smith. Nathan Smith has been a student of botany and involved in publishing over a decade. He was the Associate Director of The New York Botanical Garden Press, where he was the managing editor of their journals (Botanical Review, Brittonia, and Economic Botany) and books (e.g., titles published in Flora Neotropica Monographs, Memoirs of The New York Botanical Garden, and Advances in Economic Botany). He was also the lead editor of Flowering Plants of the Neotropics, published by Princeton University Press. He now lives in Florianópolis, Brazil, where he manages TECC Editora.
  • Amilcar Neves. Amilcar Neves is an author of seven books and contributes a weekly column to Diário Catarinense, one of the largest newspapers in southern Brazil. His published titles include the following: O Tempo de Eduardo Dias – tragédia em 4 tempos (co-author, 2005); Da Importância de Criar Mancuspias (2005); Pai sem Computador (a novel for young adults, 1993); Relatos de Sonhos e de Lutas (short stories, 1991); Movimentos Automáticos (a novel, 1988); Dança de Fantasmas (short love stories, 1984); and O Insidioso Fato – algumas historinhas cínicas e moralistas (short stories, 1979). He lives in Florianópolis, Brazil.
